Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card

What is law regarding credit cards? Theft of a Credit Card is just that, taking someone’s credit card, or credit card information without their permission or knowledge.

Any unlawful use of a credit card is a form of Fraud. You are not allowed to use someone’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases – be it online, over the phone, or in person. You are not allowed to possess a forged or stolen credit card. You are not allowed to sell a forged or stolen credit card. You are not allowed to knowingly use a credit card that has been revoked or cancelled. Any unlawful use of a credit card, regardless of the monetary value of any unauthorized purchases, can result in imprisonment up to 10 years and an order requiring you to provide restitution to the person or company that has suffered a monetary loss.

The police charged me with Theft or Forgery of a Credit Card.

You have the right to remain silent. You should exercise that right. Ask to speak with a lawyer, which is also your right.  From there on out, do not say anything to the police.
